Squeaky door hinges/door stop

The old 2002 hunting Liberty has the squeakiest drivers door you could imagine. Pretty sure every deer within a square mile knows where I park!!!!! I've greased and sprayed everything but she keeps screaming. The spray lube does help for a very short time when I spray it into the door stop opening (I think it's called a door stop).

Ya I wish I would have made a video of my drivers door hideous noises a year ago.
Same problem, no matter what grease or spay I hit the hinges with, noise would return.
I ended up using a power washer & some LPS Presolve De-greaser on the hinges.
Then once it was clean, used a tooth brush with ATF+4 transmission fluid, spread liberally into hinges etc.
Noise be gone now for 1 year.. touch wood.:gr_grin:

Get some silicon spray and lube the weatherstripping. That squeaked on mine.

Thanks for the ideas. I'll try the degrease/power wash method and see if it helps. Any particular reason to lube with transmission fluid?

It's a good lubricant, won't gum up or get all kattywampus on ya

My WK had a bad creak on the driver's side door, only thing that cured it was 3 in 1 machine oil, didn't try the ATF though. Only had to do it once or twice a year.

This is what happens when the minutia of maintenance gets missed... every vehicle I've ever owned has stated in the owners manual that hinges and latches, etc, should be cleaned and lubricated every so often, usually every 6 months to a year.

Of course no one ever does.

Just imagine if every vehicle owner out there followed proper maintenance schedules. lol.. sure would make used car buying a lot easier!

Degreased and drenched in Trans fluid but the super loud creaking is back after 3 days!!! Pretty sure the creaking is coming from the side of the door stop that is inside the door. Just gotta figure out how to get some lube in there.

The door stop, or check strap, might be busted up and playing metal to metal. Lube might not help. There are two sprung ball bearings riding in molded plastic grooves. Wind caught my door once and busted the plastic groove piece which slowly disintigrated producing a variety of noises and funky detents. Maybe.

Looks like I can take off the two nuts holding the doorstop to the door and pull it out to take a look??????
