Speedometer not working

I have 02 Jeep Liberty Limited 4x4 That I had just rebuilt engine when the Power door locks, lights, wipers, speedo and mileage computer quit working. replaced BCM with one with same part number and everything else started working except Speedo and Mileage computer. I am getting P-500 code and have checked sensor wiring for rubs and also tried to change sensor no luck. could the new BCM be bad and only effect Speedometer?

I had this exact same problem years ago on my new 2002 Export CRD.
Speedo would only go up slightly no matter how fast I went and that code P0400 was posted which is for speed sensor issue. I found the connector on the diff sensor was loose so re-plugged it but the CEL stayed lit.

After about 2 weeks of start/stop driving the CEL cleared itself so maybe you need to do a few driving cycles and the fault will clear.

You may need to trace the wiring all the way from the sensor to internals inside the cabin for any break or short...download the 2002 KJ Service Manual here for the wiring diagrams if you do not already have it:Index of /manuals/Jeep/KJ
