speedometer isnt working

2004 jeep liberty renegade, my speedometer isnt working but the rest of the panel is. how do i fix this?

Is the check engine light on also?

If so then check the wiring to the rear diff sensor,only connector on the rear diff,top center.Can be tricky to find a bad wire as it can happen inside the connector itself which makes it not visable.

If no check engine light on it's most likely the cluster is bad.

To bad on a KJ that speedo controls much more then your speedo.It drastically effects how the trans shifts,used by the ABS if you have it,and yes the engine can even stall out while braking since the PCM has no idea your actually braking and activate the IAC for idle mode.
