I'm wondering if anyone has done this or plans to?

There was talk a while back of some members wanting to remove the spare tyre off the tailgate.

Is it possible to relocate the tyre onto the bonnet (a la Land Rover)?

I wouldn't, but would love to see photos of the outcome if there are any!

Cheers

he actually meant the hood..

most i've seen are like the posted above....to me..looks odd.. but thats just me...I do like the idea tho.. I think the bonnet will be able to support it...

not sure what it will do to visibility tho...up top is better IMO

The hood? Why would you want to put the spare on the hood for? One you will not be able to see worth s%$t and with my 265/75R 16's on steel rims is around 80-85lbs and I have to much weight up front as it is.Now if you are running like 5" wide tires it may be okay.

LR's are of a different breed.....
usually can be seen on defenders or what not..but you are right.....the front does droop enough as it is, and if you have an ARB or similar..extra weight on the hood would be counterproductive

Where did you get those wheel?
Got them at discount tires for $50 each(16x7,4.25 BS).They are known by many names like Crager soft 8's,procomp has a version,but they all are made by the same company-unique wheels.

Now that's one color that should have come from the factory.
Well you can say it was a Chrysler factory colar, found it in the paint books when I worked at a dealership bodyshop(was looking for a different colar for my black KJ with $5500 worth of hail damage). It's a original '00 Lamborghini factory colar(Chrysler sold Lamborghini the end of '00).

I like it too. Almost seems like it could be a promo vehicle for Dewalt or something.

Trust me, the visibility with these tyres on these bonnets would be much better than on a Landy - you can't see squat.

Also the Land Rover bonnets designed for carrying tyres were indented in the tyres shape, so it would be lowered and levelled...

Anyone can do a photoshop? \:D/

And tyres on the roof look fine, but more Camel Trophy than LR Defender in Sahara.

Just like that, but on the KJ...

EDIT: Would be cool [and/or interesting], no?

Im happy with the spare tire location; hated the old jeep cherokee spare in the truck and dont want to crawl underneath the truck to unbolt it either. [-(

This thread has at least taught me what the hell a bonnet is :-k

Lol: here's a guide to British automotive anatomy.

Bonnet = hood
Bumpers = fenders
Boot = trunk

and a few more, just because I'm bored:

Pavement = sidewalk
Nappy = diaper

bloody hell, can't think of any more \:D/
