slight knock when real cold

Tell me more about this #2 cyl valvetrain issue? Somtimes mine does it when first started and it is real cold. Has been doing it for 4-5 years now. Is it something that can be pre-emptively repaired to prevent catostophic failure down the road? 2003 w/3.7 83,000 miles.

My jeep does that too for as long as I could remember. It's only first thing in the morning and lasts about 25 seconds, sounds like maybe a small ball is being shook around in the engine. Faint but noticeable
