Brief search didn't help much, so thought I'd ask.

Recommendations on shock replacement for standard ride height?

Many thanks.

For stock, probably Bilstein. But replacing just the shocks won't do much. The coils are a big issue and will wear the new shocks out fast. Stock spring rate is too low.

Yes agree with above , no use replacing shocks without springs
Waste of money if only replacing one or the other

If you want a better ride and handling, the best thing to do is a full OME suspension system, using 925/947 springs it will give you a very small amount of lift over new stock BUT way better overall than it was new. ADD OME or BILSTEIN shocks and enjoy the ride for the very first time

Thanks guys...appreciate the replies, especially after seeing with a little more search-fu that this has been discussed at length. Great group here.

So, OME 925s and 947s with Bilstein (4600's ?) seem to be the way to go.

So, I've never installed a coil over separately before. Leave this to the pros (have JBA pre-assemble them) or can this be done with rental spring compressors?

Also, one more question if I may - assume it's OK to continue using the stock UCA if running with no lift?

do not try to do it with a spring compressor diy. Jba will do it seemed pricey for me cause my struts were still in good shape. I brought it to a local shoppe they disassembled /assembled for $50. The stock uca is fine up to 3” of lift or something like that.

Will do way better than new stock

Take them to a shop to be compressed

Its ok yes BUT check the UCAs close, I've seen them before with as little as 75,000 miles ready to pull apart

Hope that helps
