Shifter gets stuck right before park and while in park.

My shifter is really acting up. When i try to put it into park it just wont let me. I have to slam it a couple times for it to actually get it to go.

Then when I try to get it out of park its a pain in the ass as well.

If anyone has experienced this, I REALLY need help.

I would like to take off the shift display that says P, R, D, 2, 1 etc...That plastic piece that surrounds the shifter. I can't figure out how to get it off so i can see if somethings jammed.

Any help will be much appreciated!

Been awhile,seems when I took my console out to get to the little light that all that junk was exposed,want to say there is a "how to" posted.
