Rather than use a very strong cleaner like seafoam and have to change out the plugs etc and worry it may put the cylinders awash, I use bottle of Chevron "Techron" fuel additive.

This seems to keep the engine real clean and wont harm sensors, but will clean the entire fuel system.
Add to just over a half a tank of midgrade fuel, on a longer highway boogie, with the overdrive off.
Engine runs smoother after and gets about 1mpg better.
I use this before each oil change now.
