Rusty's Coil Suspension lift vs. Strut Spacer Lift

Okay guys, need some advice here. First of all, let me say that my warranty has expired, so that is not the primary concern of my post. I have been considering a lift for a few months now. I am not looking to get nuts, I just want a decent lift that won't give me too much trouble or increase my maintenance too much. I am not going nuts on the tires either. I have narrowed my choices down to three lifts. Two of them are Rusty's lifts. One is the full suspension upgrade, and the other is the spacer lift. My dealer reccommends this particular lift. He actually has one on the lot with this lift and says that it is easiest on the Libby and does not violate any of the warranty. Now, mine has expired as I said earlier, so this is not a concern to me. So what I want to know is this. Why should I go with the full suspension upgrade instead of the strut spacer lift that my dealer reccommends? What kind of issues am I going to run into with either of them? Which one is going to put the most stress on my other vehicle components? What type of increased maintenance am I looking at with a lift? How do these lifts compare with OME lifts? I really appreciate whatever imput you guys can give me on this. Thanks for your time. \/

C'mon you guys, I know there are experts lurking here. You guys have already helped me out alot. Let me refine my question a little bit, I have settled on one of the Rusty's lifts. Since that is the case, what are the drawbacks to going with the spacer lift and some new shocks? What do I need to make of the problems that I have heard about with the CV boot when you lift a KJ? Is this serious and if so can I fix it, or I am just going to have to replace the boots frequently? I need some advice here.... 8-[

In my opinion get the coil lift it will not dissapoint you. The spacer lift will give you les flex as the springs are stock so they will not stretch as far, the coil lift gives you longer springs so they will expand farther. I have never driven the puck lift but the coil lift rides like a dream better than stock. The extra money and the extra 1/2" of lift will be money well spent in the future unless you are like me and will be changing it oput in a year for the bigger 7" lift then I would say just wait, but for most people the coil lift is the best bet. One more note the coil lift is giving you all new suspension parts, the puck lift is making original parts seem like new suspensionparts have been added. My experiance is it is better to do it right the first time, hope this helps. Come on the rest of you, ya have to have an opinion to help Yoda out here.

I figured that I would enjoy the full suspension lift better as well. I was just being cheap #-o

I am still concerned with this CV boot and CV joint issue. Any of you guys who have lifts have repeated problems with these parts or any others? Any other issues that I need to know about?

I have over 40 k on my lift now and no issues with cv's or boots seem to be working fine and Rust's has no upper ball joint contact to tear the boot.

I am also getting a lift, but I have to wait another month. I think that the Rusty's coil lift is the best for liberty out there (from what I have heard). I saw that Skyjacker makes a coil lift as well, but I have heard bad things despite the Skyjacker name. My friends all swear by coil lifts (one had a puck w/ a load of problems and complaints. Good luck yoda w/ your lift!

Yeah, I have decided on the coil lift from Rusty's. I am going to have to wait until the new year to do it. With Christmas coming up, I have a lot of presents to buy for folks and I am going out of town at least once, though I may be going to Hawaii in Jan as well. All of this costs mucho $$$. As a result, this has been put off until probably Feb. Here's hoping that we both enjoy our lifts. I know that i can hardly wait.

Well, against the thoughts of others (sorry yoda), I went ahead and got a Skyjacker platinum lift today. It costs more than Rusty's, but I was able to justify it because I do not know Rusty's and who makes their lifts. They say they make their own shocks, but I bet that is not likely. Skyjacker has been making lifts for years and they are a big company that is able to stand behind their product's performance. If something goes wrong, I can trust that it will be fixed. Sorry to those who told me to go with the Rusty's . Next, I need to get some bigger tires (BFG ATs). One mod at a time!

No need to apologize. I still haven't gotten my lift, though I am still thinking Rusty's. At any rate, it would be nice to hear about the lift you just got, so keep us updated on how its doing, and enjoy the lift. On a side note, I really like my BFG ATs.

I am just running 235/70 R16s. Basically the optional factory size. I don't have a lift so I just upgraded to this "factory" size. But I really like them. When I get a lift, I am going to get a bigger size in the same tire.

Well, today I got the Toyo ATs and they are very nice! The 4x4 specialist I got them from says they are just as good as BFG ATs, but are cheaper and last just as long. I can fit 31" (265s) with no rubbing at all. Anyone else out there who wants a good tire, look into some Toyos, you will not be disappointed!

Funny you should decide to go with the Toyo, was just looking at an add for those in my newest Truck Trend. I am sticking with the BFGs but those did look nice...let us know how they wear.

I will be posting pics in a couple of weeks because I do not have access to my digital camera until I get home for Christmas break. It looks sick though let me tell you. Yea the Toyos are nice and according to my 4x4 specialist, they wear excellent and have very good traction on and off road (plus the cheaper price tag, about $35 less than BFG ATs).
