RL Rear Bumper Question

I know RL is no longer producing things for the KJ but was wondering if the design is protected somehow..

I know a company that is willing to make me a rear bumper that looks like the RL but dont want there to be any problems.

Thoughts????

They could but I'm more visual than anything else. I don't want to spend x number of dollars on something I've never seen before only to find out it looks like a pile of (censored).

Boiler's rear bumper is sweet, saw the photos on another site, I believe once he gets all the fabricating bugs worked out he will be taking orders. I'd talk to him first, you might like his design better.....

yeah, but ThunderbirdJunkie is reserving his judgment until he sees how it works out with meduncan beating it on rocks. Steel is better, but the aluminum is still an interesting approach.

Aluminum has it's place but not as a recovery point unless your using those exotic aluminum alloys but that would be one expensive bumper(talking $10,000+).

Nothing wrong with an aluminium bumper if thats what you want.
The recovery points are also up to doing their job if they are designed
properly.

As far as Ripping off and Duplicating someone else's design is concerned...
Thats just plain and simply tasteless and disrespectful.

Design something new for yourself.
Who knows, you might just end up generating some business for yourself!

Hmmm...I suppose it wouldn't make sense to have a bumper that's worth more than your vehicle

I prefer sensible bumpers, strong enough to handle the occasional boulder bump or tree plus provide a point to recover/tow from.

I should look at the rear of my Libby to see how the stock bumper is attached. Having somebody fabricate a bumper can be expensive (been there done that) but fabricating your own might be possible with the help of a friend.
