So I replaced my blown engine with one from a 2005. changed all the parts necessary crank encoder and cam timing. truck runs good but I cant get rid of code p0138. I have replaced the rear o2 sensors. I have swapped plugs and coils.

ANY THOUGHTS ON WHAT IS THROWING THE p0138 CODE? Or what else to look at?

Probably a wiring or connector error.

You can download the 2005 FSM here which tells you what to check and gives you the complete circuit diagrams....about 63 Mb in size.

Sounds like the wire going to one of your O2 sensors probably got melted on the exhaust or maybe got sliced or squished during the engine replacement (it happens).

thanks

SO this morning with the wiring schematics in hand to troubleshoot, I headed to the garage. Crawled under and disconnected o2 sensor to connect multimeter to ohm the circuit out and noticed one of the pins on the connector o2 sensor plugged into was looking broke off. after looking closer the pin had pushed out of the connector so it wasnt making contact. Pushed pin back in until it clicked plugged sensor back in, and so far so good, no codes!

Thanks for the help. Ill post back if I get the code back but so far so good.:whip:
