I think now I am going to re gear to run a little bigger tire. What all do I need to get? Also, can I put the gears in the front by just removing the skid and axle shafts? I happen to have a Detroit locker laying in the garage too would it be ok to just lock the rear? Will it hurt to do this before the new tires? This is my daily driver, but it rarely sees the highway, so not worried about hurting top end. Sorry for all the questions, its just that this is the first time ever for me and I wana do it right the first time.

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
The whole front diff must come out to regear. Not going to hurt anything by regearing even with stock tires and you can lock just the rear but make sure the locker is for a 8.25 of it will not work.
