I've got the shocks pulled and the bolt out of the ball joint clamp and the axel should just drop loose, I thought. But, the ball bearing stud will not slip out of the clamp so it hangs and doesn't give me room to get the springs out. Any ideas or tricks? Is there something else that needs to come off?

If your talking about the upper BJ ... penetrating oil and a sharp smack at the rear of the knuckle where it attaches to the UBJ. Turn the knuckle back and forth then smack ... and repeat. Letting the weight of the knuckle hang unsupported helps as well.

On second reading ... maybe your talking about the Rear UBJ? If so remove the entire bracket from the diff ... take it to the work bench.

On the third reading... :happy175: .. if your simply trying to remove your rear springs? Set the jeep on stands directly in front of the rear control arms, then with the weight of the KJ supported (and shocks removed) jack up one side of the axle and remove the spring from the opposite side ... repeat :waytogo: no need to remove the UBJ.
