For several years I had been wondering what the occassional single pop sound was when I would park or take off. I had checked every nut and bolt in the front suspension, crawled under while people would bounce the bumper (of course no noise then). Finally a few weeks ago when changing my transfer case fluid I notice that one of the engine skid plate bolts was loose. I checked all and two were not tight. So... the sound has been gone ever since then. Vibration or a quick lube mechanic, was the culprit.
