I recently Seafoamed my rig (2.4 '05 export with 55.000 miles), changed engine oil with fresh Amsoil ,

added new Autolite iridium XP sparkplugs #5263, which is what I have been running on for the last 30.000 miles

and for no apparent reason decided to upgrade my ignition wires to Livewires and my coil pack to a Screaming Demon, form Performance distributors

Ever since the change my engine had not been working at 100% but I could not point my finger on what was wrong.
It seemed confused form time to time and would sort of stall at high speeds in 6th gear.

I recently got a P0420 code and to cut a long story short, I ended up taking everything apart to find this on #3:

Livewire

I have been running the jeep for less than 500 miles since the change.

So, my question is, was it a faulty plug or a faulty wire that caused this?

And for those of you that might think water got into the engine, the answer is no. I have not washed the engine or crossed any rivers since my last plug change.

All the mods are to blame, plugs, wires, and coil.

Why do you say that?care to elaborate?

I was under the impression that Autolites were better than NGKs,
heat insulated silicon wires better than stock
and OEM coils were not as good as Screaming Demons'.

If you have a different opinion I would like to hear it.

Granted the lack of power of the 2.4L I thought this was the best thing I could do, (not considering value for money of course) knowing that this was a way too expensive upgrade considering the small gains..
Bad thing is it backfired..:freak3:

Those iriduim plugs can't handle lots of voltage, the amount a ignition system designed for copper plugs can create. That with a higher output coil and better wires was just a bad combo that sent to much voltage.

Thanks for the reply TJ!

So you're suggesting I go back to NGKs?
or maybe to Autolite single platinum?

Which would be the best plug, granted the specific coil and wires?
