If you want to capture something on the screen and post it somewhere else, say a screenshot from Flash movie, youtube, etc. follow these easy steps.

You must be registered for see images
Click

here
to download IrfanView (or visit http://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm for a list of download links)

Download and install, let it create shortcuts on your start menu.

After installation is finished, go to Start/Programs/Irfan View/Irfan View X.XX and start it up.

Once on the screen, hit character C or go to Option, Caption/Screenshot.

As soon as you hit CTRL+F11 it will capture it and show you, you will just draw a rectangle around (Select) what you want to save, and hit CTRL+Y (this will CROP that section, and discard the rest) or Edit/Crop Selection.

Now you can go to File.. Save As.. Select either PNG with Compression 6 or Select JPEG with Quality at least %80.

If you are using FireFox, you get ImageBot extension, and upload and get links very easily from ImageShack without even visiting their website.

to Add-On (Extension)

=========

Same thing can be done with mspaint as well, without installing anything, but mspaint saves jpegs with jagged edges due to poor compression rate.

Here is an alternative for those who are using Firefox:
You must be registered for see images
Considering you are using Firefox, head over to Screengrab! extension page: LINK or click here to download it directly (it may not allow directly from here due to security settings, then just go to Extension page)

You must be registered for see images
Once it installs it will restart your Firefox only, (will retain all open pages) and come back. You can go to Tools / Add-Ons and see if it is active, if not you can Enable there.

You must be registered for see images
You will now have a small icon on your status bar, next to the page load bar at the bottom. When you click on it you will be given two menus, with 6 options, as below:

Choose selection and the screen will be highlighted, allow you to select the section you want to capture:

This is how it will look, once it is saved:

You can now save the shot on your desktop, and either attach it here, or host it at imageshack.us to post your pictures.

I just attached a picture using "Manage Attachments" to the site, it is done as following:

You click on Go Advanced from the Quick Reply box at the bottom of the topic:

Now, all you have to do is click "Browse" and find your picture on your computer, and hit "Upload". It wil upload and you will return to same page with your image file attached:

And now you can close this new pop-up window and return to Reply page, finish up and click "Submit Reply". Your picture will be attached to the post. (Like I did on this post, with Spider Man)

Remember to disable your pop-up blocker for this site so that it shows up.

Tip: If you click on your User CP (This link: http://jeepkj.com/forum/usercp.php) and scroll down and click on "Attachments" (This Link: http://jeepkj.com/forum/profile.php?do=editattachments) you will see all the images/pictures you have attached to this board. If you remove any one from there, it will be removed from the post where you attached it to.
