i have the code p0836 for a couple of weeks.when i take of the negative pole for hours i have no code but it returns when i use my 2,5 crd.also,i have changed the transfer case switch a month ago.i know what code means but what i have to do to send this code to hell?

May be it's not the switch, did you you clear the codes? check the connections on the wires. my 2 cnts worth.

Could the switch be out of adjustment? Is the cable to the transfer case OK and fully engaging and disengaging the 4wd?
