I am planning on a suspension / lift upgrade. My 2007 kj currently has 167k miles on the oem suspension. I know...I know...way overdue for replacement, however it is not super sloppy.
I am going to use OME springs, at least (probably a complete system) but I am curious about what springs to use. I plan on installing a 8k to 10k winch using the Detours Backbone.
Any thoughts, experience will be greatly appreciated.

Stock front springs are only rated at 310 lb
OME 927s are rated at 400
OME 790s are rated at 500
If winch with synthetic line / Detours backbone I'd do the 927s
If full on aftermarket bumper/ winch / steel line etc then 790s
With that said I ran an ARB up front with 790s for over 50,000 miles , stiffer ride of cousre but..............

Thanks for the quick reply.
I am going to contact Detours and ask if they make or can fab a push bar for the backbone.
I would like an ARB bumper but the price is a limiting factor at the moment. I figure once I get into the struts, springs front and shocks, springs rear that I might find other "issues" that will need to be addressed.
I think skid plates would be added before the ARB Bumper....I do like the looks of the ARB though.

Much detriment to running the 927's with an ARB, no winch?

Anyone know about how much ride height you'd lose from the additional weight, and if that could be recouped with clevis lift or strut spacers?

I ran 927 front springs and a ARB for 100,000 miles

Thanks Tom, no worries then.

Sadly it looks like my Jeep will be repaired as-built... so purchasing the ARB and other fun stuff is going to be compliments of my wallet; sometime later, and not thanks to a nice insurance payout.

It's sad when you secretly wish your Jeep had been technically "totaled" just for the cash check so you can buy badass aftermarket parts.

I'm running 927s with my winch and steel line, on a Backbone. Love the flex and the ride. Don't think anything stiffer would do as well off road.

What about rear springs? Don't really do much towing, although a trailer load of wood is likely, as well as the rear cargo area that never seems to be empty, roof basket in future as well but most likely only used for camping trips.

948 rear springs if OME, HDs if going Ironman
OR JBA also has their own line of 2.5 and 4 inch, running the 4s on my 04 and 2.5s on my 03
