o2 sensor question

finally getting around to replacing wifes o2 sensors on her 02 lib. replacing all 4. i got 4 sensors from advanced auto and didnt realize until i got home and got the first sensor out of the jeep that the new ones i got were bigger and you had to splice the 4 wires together from the new one to the factory harness clip. not only do i think thats ********, but also less efficient in a connection that might let loose at some point down the road...parts guy said they were "universal" and would work on all years. i took them back.

so question is, if i order these 4 sensors from the jeep dealership, will they come just like the old ones on the jeep, as in 1 piece with the connector already in place? just plug and play im hoping for, no splicing crap?

You can get OEM specific O2 sensors with the correct connectors,can be bought at advance auto also and are usually cheaper then the universal O2 sensors.I bought all 4 O2 sensors for my KJ also right from the dealer for $38 each for the front 2 and $68 each for the rear 2.

Universal sensors.....that's bs from advance auto. There's different sensor connections. I think the KJ is a 4 wire system without looking it up and the 02 might be a little different than my 05....I would only use one that plugged in right. You could also check NAPA. They are usually pretty good.

But are you sure you need to replace all 4? I mean all 4 are throwing codes?

There are universal O2 sensors,comes with a funky connector which requires you to cut off your OEM connector and use the connector to spice the new O2 sensor to your original connector.All O2 sensors are the same tread pitch,the only real difference is the connector and if they are heated or not and they make universal O2 sensor for both heated and non-heated O2 sensors.

Ok, I have only used/replaced OEM with OEM. Never a universal one.

yes 3 have been for a month or so. just gonna change all of them.

Just curious, but what codes do you have? If they are Heater Control Circuit DTCs, there is a ground wire under the right side exhaust manifold that mounts to the block, near the front, and the eyelet will break off of the ground wire and set heater codes for all 4 sensors.

i think the dealer ripped my wife on the rears. $110 for the left rear. im picking it up myself and going to ask why.
