ok and what would happen if I swap my BCM for one from a 4x4...what would happen?
If I didn't have a pile of front diffs(2),for libby would do SFA and that would be my move if converting a 4x2 to 4x4. Work up a list of parts,pieces,assorted junk needed for both,bet it is cheaper to SFA from the word go.Not counting the cool factor,not all SFA's are big buck like Troys.
you have 2 front diff for the liberty???
o and I have NO IDEA about a SFA much less of whats involved to do it cheap and when they do a SFA the transfer case don't work exactly like it should or what??

Not sure if it's been said, but in 2006-2007's the TCS is disabled (or heavily desensitized) in 4-LO

From the sound of it you don't have any idea on a normal 4x2 to 4x4 swap either...
Just sayin
I don't think no one has an idea here , as I see no one can help, might be cuz it hasn't been done yet, I guess I just gotta try and ke trying to get help

Some here do know what it takes and why no one has done it before is it is cheaper to trade in for a 4wd model.
Doing a 2wd to 4wd conversion on a '70 Chevy pickup is feasible and easy since there is no electronics/computers involved and the parts are far easier to come by and 1/4 the cost(new/remaned parts).

liberty...if you want to get the tailhousing, the xfer case and associated linkages, two new driveshafts, hub assemblies, CV axles, it can be done for about what you want to do it for.
Whether it'll be done 100% right, or if you'd be better off just trading it for a 4x4 of equal value is another story.
If it couldn't be done, like on a 73-87 Chevy half ton, we'd tell you NOPE, CAN'T BE DONE. Can't do it on those trucks because the frame is COMPLETELY different...in this case, it CAN be done...just weigh your options properly.
Whether it'll be done 100% right, or if you'd be better off just trading it for a 4x4 of equal value is another story.

Yes but still easily done,much easier then then the '88-present "C" line.

ehhh, 2wd to 4wd on a '63-91 GM is tougher for ThunderbirdJunkie. It involves welding and shit. Welding is a skill. ThunderbirdJunkie doesn't have any of that

With that said…of course you can convert your Liberty to 4wd! And Jeep has made it very easy to do! The hubs are universal (already splined to accept axel shafts) and the exhaust is as well. We started with a 2004 2wd Limited w/3.7L V6, added the following stock components (no fabrication or anything tricky involved, just bolt on factory parts) from a local salvage yard;
Transmission 42RLE (4x4 version) $500
Transfer case NV242 (Selec-Trac) $600
Front axel/differential assembly (including brackets/mounting hardware) $70
Front and rear drive shafts $36
Transfer case shifting mechanism $10
4x4 version of the Liberty transmission mount $12
For a total of $1228
Salvage parts are plentiful due to the nature of the Liberty (sub standard ball joints, inexperienced drivers taking them off road, etc.)
We went with the Selec-Trac (NV242) t-case as opposed to the Command Trac (NV231) because we liked the option of running in full time 4wd. The Command-Trac would have been about $150 cheaper but…we’re worth it! As for the transmission we could have used the existing unit and made it much easier and quicker for ourselves but it would have been difficult to locate a tail housing, secondary output shaft and its c-clip with the timeline we had. Removing the secondary output shaft from a donor 42RLE is not an option. Once they’re c-clipped in it’s virtually impossible to remove them without damaging the splines.
In addition to these parts we purchased six lock nuts and flat washers (3/8-24) to bolt the transfer case to our ******, and four 10mm bolts for the new ****** mount (it takes four bolts as opposed to the three the 2wd version uses). The three original bolts were used to fasten the t-case shifter bracket to the side of the trans. Of course we also changed the fluid and gear oil in our salvage parts, so the actual total cost was still under $1300.00.
Once we had all our parts together and relatively clean, the time to bolt them in was about 12 hours total. Keep in mind that this may vary with experience! If you’re an experienced mechanic or the equivalent, I’d give this project a 3 out of 10 in difficulty, due to the fact that the lower suspension arms must be disconnected at the frame to get the axel shafts into place and to install the front “diff bracket to frame” bolts in the factory orientation. Of course a portion the exhaust had to be removed as well.
On the other hand if you aren’t at least proficient at changing an automatic transmission I’d have to say don’t attempt this one on your own. Some of the parts can be surprisingly delicate and you probably wouldn’t want to have to buy any of them twice. Not to mention the fact that if you were to forget or otherwise fail to tighten some of the fasteners involved, the results could be catastrophic.
There is always the option of trading your Liberty in for a 4wd model but it’s very unlikely that the dealer would let you walk out of the showroom without first relieving you of as many thousands of your hard earned dollars as they could.

Why can't you sell or trade? Are you more than $3,500 upside down in the loan? Sell yours for about $8K, buy a 2003 KJ with 4wd for about $7K, then take the $2,500 you were going to use for this project, plus the $1000 from the KJ exchange & pay the difference of the loan. Problem solved.

it's an 05 with 163XXX miles.....they won't give me much
but yall haven't answer what I'm trying to find out, what happens if you unplug that sensor on a 4wd

It doesn't richen the fuel mixture and advance the timing when in 4low
so it could run with it unpluged

Is that really a big deal? I never retuned any of my carbed 4x4's each time I ****** into and out of 4lo, but somehow they didn't implode.
