Hey guys did my first oil change today. I put 4.7 liters of new oil in and the line on the dipstick is half way up the hash marks. Is this normal? Some vehicles want it all the way up some want it in the middle, im just making sure.

Also I opened up the air box to check out the air filter. Whats the deal with the oily sponge on the side of the box. I see theres some sort of breather tube leading to it. Is this sponge supposed to be oily and does it need to be replaced?

Thanks in advance!

Did you change filter as well?

Normally the "oily sponge" is the crankcase ventilation system air intake. Shouldn't be oily unless it's time for a change.

Yes I did oil and oil filter today. Also ended up getting an air filter because the seal on mine was torn.

I make sure mine is at the full mark, but often turns out a bit higher on the dipstick.

You can clean him with dish soap and water and dry with a lint free paper towel.
He can get a bit oily as that is the connection line to the PCV valve.
If you have never removed the pcv, you should, it should rattle and be clean.
I took my PCV out no long ago, used a bit of Varsol, and then hot water, compressed air dried it.

Aright thanks! I will clean the sponge and inspect the PCV valve. The sponge had quite a bit of oil in it.

I think alot of part stores have similar items for different vehicles. Just buy one bigger and cut it to size.

Crankcase Breather Part # Mr. Sponge Bob

I think the Crankcase Filter may be available still at dealer.
Would have to see a fiche.
I did find a similar one online Link: FILTER. Crankcase Vent. Located In Body made by Mopar. #05066076AA
I remember somewhere in the forum the part# was listed, searched cant find it on our site right now, but the 05066076AA may be updated to another # IDK right now.
I would just cut up another small square sponge if it was needed.
Mine has been cleaned, is still original, but getting close to needing a fresh one.
