Hello all. I just found this site and I hope to learn from you all how to take good care of and carefully modify my new-to-me 2004 KJ. It has 76k miles and seems real solid. I am hopeful that it will serve me well. Thanks for letting me join!

Thanks. It is kind of a metallic brown. I think a pilot owned it and it spent a lot of time in a hanger.

I am still getting used to the "sounds" of the vehicle. There is a loose heat shield sound, some creaks in the front suspension, but other than that pretty solid. Are the springs on this called stacked coils? It's not a term I have heard of before. It does look like an oil leaker, but the oil was just changed and I have not been underneath it yet with a creeper. So, fingers crossed, it's where they splashed oil on frame/suspension when they changed it. Lots to familiarize with, but I am in for the long haul. I am in for $4500 so I have some$$ room to make some improvements. I will start with the basics: all fluids and belts, pcv...the maintenance stuff.

When springs are worn out, shocks as well but they are stacked , touching together
Measure left front on level ground m middle of the hub ( center cap ) to bottom of the flare and report back
By now ( year and mileage of yours ) most have lost an inch at least in ride height

Also these like NGK copper plugs, Mopar thermostat, HOAT coolant . Dino diff oil , etc
just to let you know as you start changing out fluids/parts

They must have been poor oil changers if they splashed oil on front frame/suspension , no need for that at all

That was a guess based on ignorance, without being familiar with the underside. I have had the oil pool up on plastic and cross members before on other vehicles. It was wishful thinking on my part. Thanks for the info on fluids.
