Picked up my new Jeep yesterday, had a little look round it before I drove it to the office.
Currently doing 10.6 L/100 km or 26 UK mpg so room for improvement! temperature doesn't go above 1/4 on the gauge. Shifts through the gears smoothly and pulls like a train, I'm surprised how much more powerful than the 2.5 it. Feels, way quicker with the auto box too.

So my to do list is :
Fresh engine oil and a filter
Replace the fuel filter with a Caterpillar canister (allegedly a straight swap)
Replace the coolant
Replace the thermostat with an 88°C one
Clean the MAP sensor
Find out when the cam belt was last done, I have a vague memory of it because I loaned him some tools a few years ago!
Change the gearbox oils and filters.
Swap the worn tyres on the front for some spares I've got in the workshop.
Investigate fitting a proper lift pump, VW do a very similar in tank one to the Ram one and BMW have a nice inline one that feeds the CP3 on a 3ltr diesel.

So drop the kids off and it's engine oil and fuel filter this morning.

A good blast with cleaner improved it, strangely the EGR valve got stuck shut just after this...

An in-tank pump will be better than the in-line pump for keeping air out of the fuel system. The fuel line connectors are designed to seal under pressure.

I have pump part numbers in my notes. I'll post them later when I'm in my shop. Basically the same pump as the Dodge Cummins diesel trucks.

Sadly they are rocking horse poo in the UK but VW's are 10 a penny.

I'm hoping the pump out of one of these will graft in.
