Okay bought my wife a 06 Jeep Liberty a few weeks ago noticed none of the brake lights worked but tail lights and signals did...I assumed it was a brake switch or multi function switch didnt worry about it much figured I would fix it when I had time...yesterday she was driving down the road and it started to overheat pulled over got to looking it seems like theres a "rigged" wire going from the distribution box(radiator fan fuse I believe) and tying into a Green with a Orange stripe wire around the fuel tank, which im assuming its a brake wire.

One more thing it blows the fuse for brake lights, if i replace as soon as I apply the brakes it blows the fuse. Sounds to me like the green/orange wire is a ground but I couldn't find a diagram online.

Thanks for the help.

Green/Orange should never be a ground...always use dark colors for ground.

Download the 2006 KJ Service Manual here...includes the circuit diagrams..about 140 MB in size but worth it to fix any future problems.
