Anyone remember my post a week or so ago about the grabbing brakes in the rain.....well here is the problem. The brake pad separated away from the backing plate, and was dangling out from between the rotor and dust shield......nice!!!!!

Monroe would sell you brakes made out of cardboard if they could. Not because they don't want to honor their own warranty, but just to get you back into the shop so they could tinker around and find something else that needs fixing. That's where they make their $$ at.

My wife always had her mufflers replaced at Monroe. They always replaced them free, but she was in there EVERY year to have it done, and every time, they'd put her car up on the lift and come out shaking their heads, "Well you really need to have such-and-such replaced..."

Let them replace the pads under warranty. After 10,000 miles, go to a better shop. Better yet, next time buy your own pads and make Monroe install them.

Yup. I agree 100000%. This is how they operate. Stay away from Monroe.

Brakes are easy to do. Especially disc brakes. If you have access to NAPA get them there. They have quality stuff. Otherwise find a good local independant repair shop.

Yeah we got a place like that up here in Canada too....Canadian Tire. They work just about the same way as Monroe apparently. People who take their vehicles in there usually get fleeced.

I usually do my own brake jobs anyway because I don't trust just anyone with my brakes.

Tires Plus screwed up my rotors once.....they're machines were out of tune. One time I went in there for an alingment and rotation and they quoted me $80. I walked out and went to this local place and they charged me $30 in all.
