Uh oh. Now I have two options. That sounds pretty darn good. I think it could be lower than the Magnaflow. And can I ask where you got it from? I think I've seen them from Desert Rat for around 250 here. And how about ground clearance?

I thought the sound was deeper than the Magnaflow when I bought the Gibson. Plus, the best deal on a Magnaflow I could find was nearly $450.00. It's been a long time since I bought mine, but I think I got it on sale from performancecenter.com. I thought I paid less than $200.00 bucks for it, but now I can't find it for less than $250.00. Good Luck.

Oh ok cool. Well, if I went the Magnaflow route, I would only be getting the muffler. However, if I went Gibson I would do the full exhaust. Like you said, there's almost no reason not to. The only thing I'm concerned about it ground clearance with it though. My Jeep is low enough as it is, I don't want it lower. That's why I ruled out the dual Borla setup right out of the box.

Sorry about that; forgot to answer that part. The ground clearance is no issue. The Gibson muffler is round, but the inlet and output are offset, so that you can rotate the muffler up and out of the way. Mine doesn't sit any lower than stock.

Here's a link to a picture of the Gibson, so you can see what I mean about the muffler:

From what I have been reading, if anyone wants a good sound, and no other improvement, muffler-only is the way to go, with a steel tip modification for looks. That's all. I think any kind of Magna muffler will get the sound about right. For the performance, etc.. full exhaust is the way to go.

Some would argue that replacing just the muffler would provide similar performance gains as replacing the entire cat-back exhaust because the stock tubing is not too restrictive. I'm not sure if this is true; my exhaust was rusting pretty bad, so I replaced the whole thing. Now, if you replaced the stock cats with high flow units, you would gain some more power. I think I may do this next.

Maybe, but still I wouldn't wanna spend that much money to just get the sound going on. I just wouldn't want a truck or lowered-honda sound from my exhaust. Corvette or Hemi sound, bring it on. :)

Here's a few vids of my Flowmaster 50 SUV. It's pretty deep sounding and nice and crisp, no drone.

First clip is idleing and revving. Sorry about the background noise, that's my neighbor cutting his lawn.

The other two clips are from inside the cab while driving.

I've heard many Gibsons on different vehicles and they always sound good. I wasn't sure how loud they were on KJ's so I went with this one to keep it quiet and I'm very happy with it.

Sounds great!! The Gibson is very quiet inside the cab and has no interior resonance. I probably would have gone with just the muffler had my exhaust tubing not been rusted so bad.

That's the best I've heard yet, not too loud but loud enough....deep enough too. If I ever do the exhaust thing I'll probably go with that 50 series Flow

Wow. I have no idea now. I'm back to square one. The Gibson, the Magnaflow, and the 50 series all sound great. Sounds like it may come down to which one I can get cheapest.

Ok I know this probably has been asked a million times, but since there's a thread for that subject....Which size in/out do we have to buy. I'm really considering getting that 50 SUV very soon. Thanks!
