Mopar fog light kit differences 02-04

Okay this question goes out to the guys that have installed the Mopar Accessory Fog lights on their KJs.

A few years ago I installed the kit on my 2002 Sport and the fog lamp telltale in the cluster did not with the kit (I ran my own LED in there and hooked it up though. http://jeepkj.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36233 ) I assumed that was normal as that is the way that the Rene light bar also worked. But on this 2004 that I just got I also bought the Mopar fog light kit and after the install I noticed that the telltale in the cluster does work with the lights. Now I am thinking that something is wrong with the 2002. I installed the kits the exact same way in both trucks. Did something change between 2002 and 2004 to accept the telltale or is something wrong with the 02??

FWIW, I installed the kit in my 2003 and the cluster light works as anticipated.

I would have thought that you'd have to program the BCM to activate the foglamp indicator. Doesn't everything on the dash go through it?

When you turn the ignition key do all your dash lamps come on for a second?

The kit should have come with lamps and the new turn signal stalk. (multifunction switch)
There also might be a problem with the switch or wiring.
Is the signal stalk Mopar?

I think you just mentioned the problem. Did the 02 have a premium bcm? If not that may be the difference.

I am not sure about that but I would bet that it didn't as id doesn't have anything 'premium' on it. It is a 2WD 5-Speed with no power windows, locks or mirrors It is the most basic Liberty that I have every seen (although it does have cruise control, strangely enough)

yes both KJ's have the same Mopar Kit with the replacement multi-function stalk switch.
