I've been getting a LOWASH warning on the odo for a few days. I poured about 1/4 bottle into the wash res, and it was full. But I'm still getting the stupid "beep" and LOWASH everytime I start the KJ.
Do I need to do a key dance or something to clear it?
You need to check the connector at the sensor to see if it is on correctly.
You can pull out the sensor assembly....do not mistake it for the pump assembly.....by pulling the assembly out of the round rubber grommet in the side of the bottle at the bottom.
You will see that the sensor is in two parts....hinged in the middle.
The part that floats contains a magnet while the fixed piece contains a reed switch.
When there is lots of water available the magnet floats away from the reed switch and the ECU is happy that there is sufficient water.
When the water level goes low, the magnet section rides on top of the reed switch which then tells the ECU that water is low.
So it would seem your floating section is jammed to the fixed section or your reed switch is faulty.
On my 2002 CRD the float section came disloged while I was putting the sensor assembly back into the bottle....now I get no warning signal at all and have to remember to top up the water every so often. The float section floated to the top and I have retrieved it so sometime I shall put the sensor back together.
