Alright, I am new to this forum, but not new to the Jeep Liberty. I have had this Jeep about 9 years. About two weeks ago my oil pressure light started coming on intermittently on my wife while driving it in town and there is a rattle in what sounds like the front of the engine, but only when it warms up. First thing I did was put an oil pressure gauge on it and check to see what it was actually doing. I get 80-85 psi when I first start it and then it slowly drops as low as 15-20 psi once it warms up. Seems pretty low to me. Always good clean fresh oil changed regularly. Is the anything internally that could cause this other than a worn engine or bad bearing? Runs perfectly smooth and no noise at all until it warms up. Any observations or experiences would be appreciated.

I had a brand new engine put in and it sits at 2000 miles right now. Runs great. My last engine didn't show a low oil pressure light , but it did tick/rattle. Had a timing chain rattle. I have a YouTube channel with all the issues I had with the old engine. Here's just on video, watch them all and let me know if any of them sound like yours. If you can, post a video!
If you can't get to my channel, it is MrTJ JeepKJ

Thanks for the reply teeje. I watched the video you posted and it sounds a little different than mine. Could be the same though. Mine is only there when it is revved up after the engine is warm. Not there at idle. Not there at all when the engine is cold. What did you find with yours? Did you have any oil pressure issues with yours?

Well, I had multiple issues with mine. I have a couple videos on there and I don't know if you watched them all but you should. First problem was a bad timing tensioner. http://youtu.be/3ot4_5HBEVM

Then slight rod knock (after timing tensioner fixed)
Rod knock occurred because of I overheated the engine when a heater core hose blew
http://youtu.be/BNDJw9Val-Q
Then (I don't know what the hell the noise was. I'm gonna guess broken timing chain guide because it jumped timing and blew
Nothing helped at all

http://youtu.be/vA2UG_5JfV0
Last video before it blew
Then a new engine with defective valve cover gaskets, a wrist pin tick and defective rod bearings

Company picked up the vehicle replaced the block and crank. Still a wrist pin tick
http://youtu.be/4eWsp8OEZKM

Then finally all problems solved at the expense of the company
http://youtu.be/4JuuLNCF38k

Let me know if any of these helped you. Try posting a video on here.
My Libby is happy. Hope yours will be soon.

Someone should rename this thread the ultimate ending of a liberty [emoji23]
Well if anyone has any of the issues I've had, they know what to expect if they don't take care of it. Because when she jumps time, you get bent valves warped heads and a warped crank.

re: Low oil pressure and engine rattle

Wow. Sorry to hear about all of your problems with it. I have really had to do nothing on mine until this started and I have had it for almost 10 years. Been a great rig, I just didn't expect to have to pull the engine with this few miles on it. I have it parked now and now just plan on yanking the engine out and going through it before I do have a failure. I will be asking more questions I am sure when I get it pulled out and get ready to tear it down. I will definitely check out your other videos too. Thanks again for the information.
