Yeah I checked earlier, but when you click on the link to view the PDF, it comes up with an error, so they don't have that posted yet, just the notice for now. I'd give it a couple more days. I e-mailed them for a response about it.

Dr Z is too busy trimming his moustache to have the link fixed.

I think you need the actual recall letter you will receive in the mail before you can go to the dealer and have it done. As they receive the "new and improved" ball joints they will start scheduling appointments and I hope it will include a front end allignment.

Is the alignment going to be extra or is it free?
It's part of the work to align the vehicle. In other words, free.

HELL YEAH! Free alignment to correct my frankencrookedness.

I'll throw on the new tie rod ends too! Hooray!

Now the question is. Do I drive 100+ miles to go to the good dealer to do it... or do I drive 4 miles for the sh*t dealer to do it?

A conundrum...

My wonderful dealership which I can't speak highly enough of should take care of this in a short amount of time.

If your dealership doesn't take care of the alignment then I'd call DCX headquarters and tell them the work wasn't done properly. They should do something about it.

Do you have to have the letter before you can make an apt? Can the pdf link (when the link is fixed) do insteaad of the letter?

interesting situation i have. im on Nantucket Island, MA. there is one dealership here, a ford deadlership. i have gotten jeep parts thru them in the past, not sure if they will do the work or not, but that is where you get your jeep fixed if it needs it. i dont think they do great work though. there is another dealer on the cape, so maybe when i leave i can get it done before i hit the road to VT...

almost time to ski...

Well I just checked mine and it came up INCOMPLETE under the status so I'm getting new ball joints plus the free alignment....this calls for some new tires I was holding off on but since of the free alignment, might as well get them on now before it goes in for the recall...Time for some Grabbers or Revos.

I'd actually wait and get them installed after the work is done.

whats the point in having brand new tires installed with a jeep that's gonna be re-aligned after the fact? That would mean the tires are beginning their life on a vehicle thats out of alignment....though a couple hundred miles probably wouldnt make a huge difference, just makes more sense to me to get the alignment back to spec again, then put the new tires on. Does that make sense?

No it doesn't make sense.

The tires are going to affect the alignment in a negative way (on an incredibly small scale, but it will still skew the alignment slightly), and if you are about to get a free alignment it will be better to install the tires first. Then you will end up with the best possible situation.

This is all that much more applicable if you want to upgrade to a larger tire.

Mine is at the dealer getting LBJ's as we speak. I went in this morning because my faulty glow plug was getting replaced and I asked the dealer when are they going to start doing the recall. My service guy siad it was on my list of things to do today. Yeah!!

While your method does make sense, I'm just saying whats always worked well for me in the past.

i would agree, might as well get the tires on first or at least at the same time as the recall. i would rather have everything all aligned with the new tires and not have to worry about it being off because of the new tires.

I am in the same boat saving for revo's and now the lbj recall so looks like i will be getting the same thing done soon. yippeee
