My Automatic 04 Liberty seems to be loosing power when I most need it. I bough the car not to long ago and this is my first Jeep, so not sure if this is normal or not.

When going on a very steep hill or when I lock the brakes and accelerate at the same time the car won't rev pass 2k rmp's and the car does not move at all.
The motor seems strong, I did a compression test and it was around 175 all across.

I'm guessing this issue coming from the ****** it self. Today I've tested it for longer then usual on a steep hill and the Trans Temperature light came on. I've also noticed that on longer rides it gets worst, don't know if it could be due to the oil getting hotter.

I would appreciate any help guys!

Looks like you may have a clogged transmission cooler line, Another thing you may want to try is to do a transmission quick relearn.

Is the CEL on, and does the CEL itself work?

Are you on the road driving or just trying to hot brake it to do a burn out?
Little more explanation as to type of road, speed etc may be helpful

If your trans temp light came on just going up a normal hill then the transmission has a real problem. Like renegade04 said above, either a clogged trans cooler line (big question: why is it clogged?) or low on transmission fluid (ATF+4 ONLY!!) or some other problem.

The transmission temperature light is one you never want to see under normal driving conditions. If it shows itself at times other than heavy towing or off-roading there's something bad going on.

Thanks tommudd! I don't remember happening when I'm driving on the road, though I do feel some shaking/vibration going up normal hills, but I'm still not sure if this is something related to the ****** or the rear diff, could be a different problem.

As far as the RMP not going over 2k, it only happens on first gear and when the car is stopped, I hit the gas to climb something and the rpms won't exceed the 2k. Regarding the brakes, it happens when stopped as well, hot braking it trying to do a burn out and the car does not move at all.

Thanks TwoBobsKJ! I've had this car for over 6 months now and yesterday was the first time the light came on. Yesterday was a special day, I over forced the car on purpose to see how it would react trying to climb the hill and the car just wouldn't, so I keep revving it until the light came on. So no, this was not normal driving at all.

I also changed the transmission oil and filter a couple months ago and I did use ATF+4 as stated on the Manual.
