Okay, I've been reading a few different threads on here and am confused...

I'm wanting to replace my springs on my 04 KJ, one because the vehicle is at almost 73 grand on the miles and two because I'm going to be doing some hauling with it eventually. The different threads all say slightly different things, but I'm hoping someone can give me a straight forward answer.

I will not be adding any bumpers, guards, winches, etc. All I will be doing is towing a small camper, so I want to upgrade the rear springs and possibly the front to help the Jeep bear the load a little better.

What should I put on for springs, and once I've added the new springs am I going to need to put on new shocks and struts to compensate for any lift?

I'm not looking to really gain a huge lift (although I'd imagine some will come with new springs), I want better load bearing in the Jeep.

Help?

If you don't want much lift just install the springs alone, no extras like most do.
I would still use the 927s front and 948s in the rear OME springs by the way this will give you about 2 inches of lift over new stock height.
Yes you do want and have to replace all 4 shocks, you can either go OME shocks or Bilstien both ride about the same as far as my seat of the pants feeling.
So a list
OME 927s front
shocks Bilstein F4-BE5-D916-H0 or OME NS131
Rear
OME 948 springs
shocks Bilstein F4-BE5-6458-H7 or OME 132Ls
add in front Teraflax bumpstops and in the rear two hockey pucks per side for bumpstops and be good, Will handle and drive way better than it ever did and will be ready to tow

Okay, dumb question, but literally 2 hockey pucks? haha!

As far as shocks, are the OME or Bilsteins a must, or could I go with a cheaper Monroe or other brand shock that was rated the same? The only reason I ask is because I'm a college kid that's about to be getting married and I want to do this right, but without sacrificing any important body parts.

Hi guys, don't mean to hijack the thread but, as I'm on the same route of the OP, where are the hockey pucks
supposed to be installed..? ( Probable anwer is '...Ya'll see when You're at it..' :happy175:).
I'm stashing parts so I guess I'll be chasing for 4 of those.. am I right? ( Hockey pucks...here...??? lol3.gif) .
BTW, to begin with, 927s are on their way :smokin:

Duh.....:happy175::shrug:
first get 4 hockey pucks,
drill a 3/8 inch hole in the center of all 4
buy 2 bolts 2.5 inches long with two nuts/washers
remove old rear springs
drill hole through lower spring pad ( in the center)
install new OME 948 springs one on each side :whip:
bolt 2 hockey pucks one per side through the hole you drilled
install new rear shocks
done with the rear total time less than 30 minutes including jacking it up, removing tires etc
you have now installed your rear springs, new shocks and cheap bumpstops which work great:Bye:

I used to OME 926 springs on the front, no intentions of adding a bumper, etc. Almost 20k and no sagging. Though the spring rate diff is 25 lbs, so really not a huge difference if not adding more weight. I have the HD rears, and towed a double axle trailer cross country with no sagging.
