Today i changed the interior of my KJ from the taupe Limited interior to the Dark Slate Grey Renegade interior.

First a couple of shots of what I started with:

other than the fact that I absolutely loath the taupe interior I changed mine because of the nasty carpet (from the PO)

all striped :

at this point I need to point out that I had originally planned on swapping the entire dash out as well but I was running out of time and I figured it would be easier to paint the dash pieces rather than remove the entire dash. but I decided that I kinda liked the center stack being a different color so I installed the taupe center console in as well.

Finished:

also notice that I combined the Limited silver dash pieces with the Renegade brushed aluminium dash pieces and switched to the 2005+ instrument cluster.

I was sad to lose the silver limited door handles but I was able to save the door lock switch bezels and lock plunger bezels.

On a side note my parts KJ (2002 Renegade) has a weird knee bolster, it is not hinged like all the others that I have seen and it has a huge piece of metal behind it (my other 02, 03 and 04 all have the normal hinged bolsters) anyone else seen one like this?

compare to the normal hinged version:

Wow. Huge! How long did that take? Nice!
That would have been the perfect time to add in some of that peel-n-stick sound insulation for the flooring. I would like to have my Kj better insulated for winter's.
Did you do headliner too?

It took me about 4 hours to dismantle the interior from both trucks and re assemble one. I did not do the headliner as they were both the same color.

Great work - I like the contrast too.

Amazing how some will destroy the inside of a vehicle, isn't it? The previous owner of our KJ had a dog(s) that shed like crazy - hair EVERYWHERE and the 'wet dog' smell to boot!! :freak3:

After a few shampoos and tearing out all the seats it's finally starting to smell "normal."

Love seeing customized Jeeps like yours!
