It does work but if you use to much it can be harmful, also like vaughan1966 it makes stuff brittle.

I'm not a math genius or anything, but given the 15 cents per ounce that they say acetone costs, that'd be US$22.20 per gallon. Even if constantly adding it to the tank would help fuel economy, is it really economical?

I don't trust it for reasons stated above. And besides, it won't turn your KJ into an econobox. What gets good gas mileage is less weight, and more aerodynamics, and a smaller motor, as in a little car. Neighbor has a Dodge Neon that he claims 40mpg highway. Maybe something that size.

Just my opinion.

I like the quote stating:

*A note of extreme caution: Acetone is a very powerful solvent, and extremely corrosive to rubber. In fact, when the acetone hits a rubber fuel line, or o-rings, or any other rubber part coming into contact with the acetone, it will slowly be dissolved away. With continual corrosion of the rubber, it will eventually disintegrate, leading to extensive repairs of the fuel line, and a possibly worse if it happened while driving. When it all comes down to it, realize that you are using the acetone at your own consequence.

Good day,

No way would I try Acetone as a fuel additive!
I'll stick to using it as a cleaner. No doubt it is most effective at removing rubber! It works especially well on the removal of old baked on rubber grommets, window/door seals, and ancient rubber suspension components.

Oh yeah, Jennifer says that it works awesome on nail Polish!

Now, this item below I will actually buy once some disposable income rolls around. Friends of the family own/operate a Hugh dairy farm and "Uncle Harry" runs these on all his diesel/gas powered equipment with great success.

Here are a few favorites of mine! To think that people even spend their money on this crap. Most were even tested by Popular Science magazine and found to "worthless" and a waste of time to install on your vehicle. Yet, I know people who use one or two of them and claim exorbitant gains in fuel economy- OH SURE They just don't want to admit that they got SUCKERED out of their coin.

I think the Acetone info on Wiki probably has shown some gain, but at what price to the vehicle.
Either that, these fine up-standing folks who created that info did so because they had the added bonus sniffing all those Acetone fumes!
