I have tried to search for this but unfortunately have not found a clear answer....

This is hopefully quite simple, I am planning to install my Ham radio gear into my 56 Cherokee and want to install an aerial onto the existing roof rails. I am told that these are examples of plastic engineering at its finest so I need to work out a way to earth my antenna to give it sufficient ground plane. As my Jeep is "Uni-bodied" so in theory I should be able to pick up a decent earth from anywhere on the body of the truck itself. So I was planning to run a short ground wire from the mount to one of the bolts that secure the roof rails to the roof.

Crafty eh? well possibly, only I cant see how the damn things are secured to the roof. I found some info that suggests that a plastic cover should pop off but I cant find where this could be on mine...

Anyone able to point me in the right direction please?

Flat blade screwdriver, look at the ends, pry apart at the seam. One half will come off allowing access to 8mm bolts.

It does thank you. Just need to be a little more aggressive with it!

I'll have to keep reminding myself its not a Land Rover it wont break... Its not a Land Rover it wont break... :) :)

Cool thanks

Welcome to the forum Paul.
Nice to see another brit joining. I remember driving through Amersham every week about 15 years ago and as you drove down the valley there was a huge "Smilie" in the corn field at the bottom. It was when crop circles were all the rage. It's amazing what you can do with a stick and a piece of rope isn't it? It used to make me smile every time! Hehe. :smokin:
