how to change the fuel filter

I have a 2002 jeep liberty and will like to change the fuel filter. Please show me how.

fuel filter is in gas tank and not ment to be changed in regular intervals, I hear it is a pain in the ass to do it. I have never done it myself just from what I hear

Fuel filter is outside of, and in front of the gas tank, but you need to remove the access panel from inside the cargo area to get to the fuel line disconnects. Here are the directions, which is how the FSM says to do it: Fuel Filter Replacement

02-04 outside tank
05-07 inside tank (on top of/inside actually)


If you read this dude's post ... it doesn't seem like it is really any easier (changing the filter) on the early models :shrug:

There's a strainer sock inside the tank, at the base of the pickup, which keeps any big chunks out of the pump.
