how do i get the plastic covers off the rear gate window off?

i need to clean and prep for painting near the hinges of the swing gate glass (at the top). how do i get those plastic covers off? do they just pop off? i dont want to break them.

The foam stuff has **** that fit holes in metal of gate,they are on both ends. Seems like they're three on latch end and two on hinge end.
I didn't write anything obscene,this P.C. filter.... **** should be protrusions.
