Hello:
The horn pad on my 2002 Jeep Liberty Renegade does not work when it's hot outside.
The horn still works, as when I lock the car via the fob, the horn still blows. However, when I try pushing the horn on the steering wheel when it's hot outside, no horn action  It does work when cold outside, though.
I brought it to a mechanic, and they said that the horn pad is combined with the airbag. If I wanted to replace the horn pad, I would need to replace the entire airbag, too (at around $700 to $800). The stealership essentially confirmed this.
Has anyone experienced this issue? Any work around, or solution?
I was thinking about getting an aftermarket horn. Probably would need to add a separate button, though. Anyone tried that?
Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Thanks,
T
