well, i got the wifes o2 sensors changed on her 02. replaced 1 blown 15amp fuse under the hood (fsd feed, whatever that is) and it runs great and the engine light is finally off.

so, what could cause it to start feeling jittery and hesitate randomly when the gas gets to 1/4 tank? above that it is fine. this has been going on for a few months and we figured it was the o2s being bad. fuel filter, trash in the tank?

what do you guys recommend? and yes all the lines running to the tank seem to be fine and not cracked or anything.

I have same issue, it like "start drop-slightly start run"... there is a brief pause and silence..
I am thinking spark plugs.
I also have tremors on idle when I let my foot off the brake, on level ground.

hers is only when gas level is below 1/4 tank.

Fuel pump is starting to get weak with low tank level, not as much pressure on the system.

This sounds like a reasonable cause. I read through this thread twice and I agree this is possible since it only does it when the gas level is low. If it were me I would fill it when it starts to go below 1/2 tank. (I do that with mine all the time)

The more gas that is in the tank, the cooler the fuel pump runs anyway as the gas actually cools it. I had a 94 GMC truck that the OEM fuel pump crapped out on at around 160,000 miles on me and I changed it (PIA). Gave it to my Son and he likes to run it on $10 bucks worth of gas all the time and he burnt up 2 fuel pumps in 15,000 miles. I told him not to do that. I am not changing them. He is a professional fuel pump changer now....haha

I know that fuel pumps go out
and I know the fuel cools them
but if it is going out better to change them now

I quite often run my TJ down to as low as a gallon in the tank
light comes on around 3 gallons I will drive another 20 in the city
same with the KJ ,my wife will run it until it says 5 miles until empty
I have run my '09 F250 until it said 0 miles to E ,figure that out
and I only put 35 gallons in the 36 gallon tank
did the same with my old truck ,'02 F250, and got over 150K with no fuel problems
