It's getting cold around here and when I'm at idle my heat goes from very warm to almost cold air. I haven't had the car checked out I just found this problem yesterday and was wondering if any of you have run into this?

Thanks for any help in advance!

Are you having to add any Hoat coolant to reservoir?
Potential air in system/ small rad leak, have it pressurized, look for coolant on tank sides & other areas.
Thermostat stuck open, do you have an engine light on?
Water pump may have small weep, or poor circulation.

^ All of the above. That type of issue is usually caused by low coolant level, and thus air trapped in the heater core. Now, the reason WHY you have low coolant, in that case, becomes the real question.
