Hi everyone. I've been eyeing a KJ for a while as a family vehicle and nice compliment to my TJ. I finally picked one up that looks like it just rolled out of the showroom. Only problem.. one key.

I'm getting dealer quotes for 200-300 for a replacement. I can have a transponder key made up for 89 bucks but it wont have keyless entry.

is there a way to get a keyless entry fob? any solutions for keys that wont cost $250 smackers?

What year of KJ? It makes a huge difference on key price. If you have only one transponder key the dealership is the only place that can program a 2nd,if you had 2 that would be a different story and pretty much any dealer will not program keys without them being bought from them.

the jeep is a 2005 renegade. My local keymaker says he can make and program a transponder key but it wont have the keyless entry buttons.

$250 is way to high
Our old VW had a "reverse cut" key with the remote
built into it and it was like a "switch blade" it would spring
out of the side
We got a dealer key for $200 and we only had 1 key
