Hello folks!

this is my Extreme Sport 3.7.
Added features: 17' Airstream Caravel(1967) and 17ft Coleman.

I have a few problems that I would like to iron out. Grateful if anyone could assist.

1, Electric Door Mirrors: They, and the mirror folding mechanism, have failed and I cannot find listed the location of the fuse which is no doubt blown. Anybody know where it is?

2, I recently removed the centre console whilst installing a new 12v power supply. Ever since I have had an AIRBAG(SRS) warning. I discovered that there's a sensor located under the console. Is it likely I have disturbed something?

Other than little niggles like the above I have to say that this is the most fun I've had driving. The engine teeters between effortless and brutal and to kick the box through the gears is pure joy! Fortunately, I run her on LPG so she doesn't empty my pockets quite so quickly!

I'm afraid I won't be of much help with your problems, but that is a nice looking setup. You're ready for anything with that! :happy160:

Nice setup.

Power folding mirrors were not available in the USA as far as I know. If you have an owners manual it has a fuse diagram in it (at least the USA one does) so that might help with fuse location. Not sure if I will be of much help on the questions.

Thanks Dave

No, I'm afraid! You'd think from the contents of my manual and the fuse list that the Jeep didn't have adjustable OR folding mirrirs. No mention in the book, on the wiring diagram OR in the car itself! I am baffled - and the things don't work at all! btw - they did up until a month or so ago!

Check the fuse by all means. I am having the same issue with my power mirrors and was told by my mechanic that I need to replace the entire switch on the driver's door. In the US, that part # is 56010093AA for Mirrors - Power Heated, and 56010094AA for Mirrors - Power.

In all likelihood, you have the former. The switch itself is not expensive (I have found them for as little as $25 USD), but it does require removing parts of the door panel. The switch itself appears to be modular, so there would probably be no soldering involved. Good luck!

BTW, that Airstream is CLASSIC.

that 29 fuse is actually for the heated mirrors which are on a separate circuit and actuated by the rear demister relay, It was the first fuse I checked.

It could well be the fuse if the switch is U/S...

...looks like I'm dismantling the door and putting a tester on the switch!

Thank you all so much for the info!!

Btw, My Caravel, and Airstreams in General, have made me a big fan of American engineering.

I specialise in adapting Airstreams for use in the UK and Europe where brake controllers have to be on the trailer.

That is beautiful!!

Thanks for your post - great to see an Airstream behind a Jeep and a classic Chevy pickup. Sweet, just sweet :happy107:

The rig is a 51 Chevy pickup and a 1960 20ft Avion - a really pretty trailer.
The Chevy is best described as "agricultural" in its performance so you get plenty of time to wave at bystanders pointing their iPhones at you!
I fitted a Tekonsha RF wireless brake controller.

Unrelated, but I just made the connection. Is Silver Twinkie the nickname for Airstreams in the UK? Clever reference!

Strange how a fault can cause you to stare like a rabbit in the headlights!

Staring at the AIRBAG warning light and scratching my head I completely forgot that the SEATBELT warning light was NOT illuminated.

Having taken the seats out over the weekend to exchange the front seat pads, the AIRBAG light has come on because I've disturbed the connection to the seatbelt anchorage. Hence, the seatbelt warning isn't illuminated. I will have to take the driver's seat out and have a looksie what I've done wrong.

I can't remember how many times I've fixed one thing and inadvertently broken another while working on something. :emotions33:
