Well since I've gotten my awesome Yakohama A/T tires I've decided to go to my first Trail/Off road place. It's about 1 hour north of where I live.

I've never been to one so I'm wondering what there like? I'm sure that it will be pretty kick a**

Have fun! Be good to the park. it's the only one left in the entire state. They shut down Paragon in Hazleton a few years back to make build a cargo airport and never built it. Before going make sure you check all the rules out. Make sure they Allow 4x2's in. Some parks do and some parks don't. You'll also gonna need recovery points(hooks and/or Hitch) and since you have a kj you already got a full spare and you need a buddy vehicle too. There just some basic rules of all parks. Just go over everything before you go. It will make your trip enjoyable.

Dont go
if it is a public park ,as in pay to go
you may get sent home
I know most of the parks I have been to require 4wd
2 hours of driving for nothing?

Just a ? do they get under the truck and look?

No ,at least they have never checked my TJ
how ever if you sign a waiver saying that you understand the rules
and they are things like
you need 4wd
you need hooks ,straps ect.
why would you lie and say you did?

Just remember that even the best kept parks have trails that may be marked a 2 but weather and use have made them 4's
been in this situation with some stockers
also remember that even in a pay park you are on your own
get in a bad situation ,***** to be you

I have never seen 2wd rejection at a public park but I have seen it
on a club ride
that is like taking a walk of shame
you show up to ride ,it was posted that "all club rules will apply" (1 of which is 4wd required) drive 2 hours to get there and then get rejected
best part of all he was in a lifted 4 door JK running 33's and was told he
could not go and there we were in a KJ and people were like
"man that ***** ,he had to go and the Liberty gets to ride"

So you've never been off road before with your Libby?

I don't like wheeling on unfamiliar trails because I never know what to expect. I'm always suspicious of trail ratings, they seem so arbitrary. When you come up on a water hazard always let somebody else go through first. You never know just how deep the puddle is or how many rocks are beneath the water surface.

They may recommend that you only drive on mild trails if they know you have only 2WD but I'm not sure they could prohibit you from serious trails.

yes I have been off road. I got myself out of mud once so I have some experience. I would start with a mild trail. Then maybe If I'm crazy enough I'll try some of the harder trails to see how long it takes me to get stuck :D. Thats if they let me.

Do you have recovery points, front and rear?

Also, have a buddy (with a 4x4 and a recovery strap) to go with you?

Truthfully, if the answer to either is "No", I wouldn't go until they are both "Yes". If they are both yes, have at it man, you'll have fun! :D
