Hi guys,

I had a busted coolant tank a while ago - it fried two coils (leaked onto them). She was misfiring like a ***** for a while but OK after replacement coils. I probably shouldn't have driven it with the misfire but at the time no choice......

However my rear muffler was shot I think due to the misfire pulsing exhaust gases (maybe was near end of its life anyhow), and the exhaust was sounding more like a 'wet fart'

So I replaced the rear muffler with a Flowmaster, still sounds like a wet fart - albeit now a loud one :happy175:

I have the engine management light still on - code says inefficient CAT. Any you guys found a bad cat making a rubbish exhaust note? Can I change out just one CAT or must I change both? Any tips to identify which one is bad??

Thanks for tips!

Cheers,
Ric

Welcome welcome. What is the code? Cats are expensive so let's see if it is really that or a o2 sensor

Firstly you need to check the performance of the oxygen sensors using a scanner capable of reading live data to determine whats a really going on.
If you need any sensors replaced use NGK/NTK brand.
I would recommend you seek a professional with the appropriate knowledge & equipment to properly diagnose your P0430 situation.
