I bought an 2005 jeep Liberty for the wife and it needs an engine. Was going to get one from Junk yard with 44k on it . Then last night found an 2006 with a new engine in it with 3k on it since it was replaced. That jeep is very rusty and the transmission is starting to go bad.

So the question is will an 2006 fit into a 2005 with out an trouble?

Yes. I believe the only ones you have to worry about are 2004 into an 03 or later for example. Should be good

Yes that should be the same. You can go even newer and only need to swap a sensor or two.

BTW while hunting motors You might notice some 3.7 have EGR and some don't, I believe that started in 2007. Either way doesn't matter as long as you use your exhaust manifolds. Block and cylinder heads bolt up the same.

Great find on a rebuilt with 3k! ***** for whoever spent the cash to Rebuild it then have the transmission fail.
