My jeep recently started making a ticking noise from the front, relative to driving speed. It sounds like it could be the cv joints, but it only makes it drivign in a straight line, not in corners like cv joints. I looked at some past posts and they said it could be the front driveshaft. I crawled under and the front driveshaft is nice and tight and the boots look good. The passenger side cv's boots look fine, but it has a lot of play in it. What is the likelihood of it being something else? Probably best to just replace it and go from there? It has 168,000 miles on it and they have never been done before. Any feedback would be great.

Don't go throwing parts and money at it. Try to find the problem and fix it right. If you can't find it bring it to someone who can find the problem.
