Check engine light came on a month ago (not blinking). I took it to my mechanic, who couldn't find anything wrong, and he reset the light.

It came back on, they still couldn't find anything wrong with it(Not the 02 sensors, and visual inspection of the cat was okay), so I took it to the stealership. They say I need a new catalytic converter.

Question: How do I know if this is true? It drives and sounds normal.

The code is: PO 430

49k on my '05, I'm the second owner, so it should be covered by the powertrain warranty, right?

Thanks for any input.

My sister's '05 had this same problem, as a matter of fact, at the same mileage and it was covered under the Emissions Warranty.....

Replacement of the catalytic converter is necessary.

You are correct, sir...and since its the emissions warranty, it's $0 deductible--nice!
