Hey guys...

I have a white 2002 Jeep Liberty Sport with the dull grey fenders. I really prefer the look of the white w/white fenders and am wondering if i can have my current ones painted to match the rest of the car(will paint stick) or does it require getting brand new fenders?

I'm pretty sure you can, just prime and sand really well. Others will chime in with better answers though...:)

It definitely will. Just apply a primer safe for plastic pieces and then spray your color and finish with a clear. Tape the surrounding areas off really well.

If you just paint them, though, the fenders will still have a texture. You will have to sand them down in order to flatten them out and make them smooth.

pull them off before you paint them. dont do them on your jeep. prep them really well and as long as you mix in a good flex agent you will have no problems

There are some special paints for plastic. I don't remember the brands or types, but some of the major mfg's like Rustoleum carry them. I'd highly recommend checking into these.

my next question was answered I think... is it recommened to take them off intead of taping the area.. or does that cause more problems with reinstallation?

So I take it that would apply to the back bumper as well?

I just took all of my bumpers, fenders, and side moldings off and will be using "Forever Black" on them, it's a dye that apparently works pretty good...we shall see, I'll post pictures when I'm done
