Recommend ignoring all those YT vids that claim replacing the CPS on Liberty 2.4 Petrol KJ is a quickie. If it's done properly it ain't. The critical bit many vids miss out is adjusting clearance of the magnetic sensor tip which has to be 003" / 1mm. If you don't get the clearance right you'll just get a repeat of all the symptoms of a failed sensor again - i.e codes, difficult to start, misfiring etc. or risk damaging it if it makes direct contact with the LH sprocket.

Interesting the number of posts where ppl have replaced the CPS but then complain PO fault code /symptoms came back a few miles later.

So..To do this properly you need to remove the air filter box and engine temperature sensor (some coolant will leak out) which just about allows removal of the grey plastic upper timing belt cover. It's a struggle to gently wiggle this out past the upper coolant hose and a/c pipe but once removed you can see the sensor tip and (with its bolts loose), you can then slide a feeler gauge in, push the sensor forward so it butts up against it and then tighten its 2 securing bolts.

Tip: Rather than ruining a feeler gauge by bending it into the necessary right angle to insert, I cut a small strip of bendable 1mm thick steel/alloy and used that to check clearance.

Hope this helps - these transistorised sensors do seem to fail every few years
