I have this idea for a V-8 in a KJ...Has anyone done this yet???

What I have planned in my head is a Ford 302,C-4 ******,Dana 20 T case & Ford Dana 44 & 9 inch ....All of this would be out of an Early Bronco...

I dont have a KJ yet...Im in the planning stage & getting all of the part togeather

Am I nuts for trying this??

On another note I dont know Anything about the KJ...Just reading & learning..I do know about the unibody..

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
You know you'd loose all accessories right? Late '10 my KJ will be getting a 4.7 V-8 transplanted into it after my SFA swap. It's pretty much a direct bolt in swap besides some fun electronic work.

So, scrap all factory accessories and go old school and rewire the vehicle.
You should be able to to use the original wiring. Just ditch all that computer controlled crap. Yes, more work but much more easier to trouble shoot in the long run.
After all, 20 plus years from now when people treat these KJ's as "Classic vehicles you can bet it will be easier to rewire the entire car then it would be to find an OEM computer system for one. Not to mention alot cheaper.
Unless of course you want to restore a Jeep Liberty to concourse condition!
At which, I can think of many other U.S. made vehicles which would actually be worth something.

Loosing any of the accessories is no big deal... Wiring the older 302 is a snap...All I need to figure out is if the 302 will fit in the engine bay...

Fabbing anything eles isnt that hard for me...Iv built alot of trucks before...Im just fighting the urge of stripping down my 73 Bronco race truck & putting the 500HP motor in the KJ...

I know theres someone that will make a harness for anything...If its not that company its another...I just cant think of the name...
I already know the name,Burnsville Offroad in Burnsville MN,if you want just about any engine swapped in a Jeep they are the place to go.They even put the 8.0 Viper V-10's in TJ's,along with 7.0 HEMI's.No a HEMI will not fit in a KJ without rendering it undriveable. They make it so stock appearing that even a dealership can order/fix and diagnose there engine swaps like the vehicle originally came with that engine.

me and you think alot alike. i would love to take my 302 out of my 70 ford pickup and put in my kj. the sound of the headers and open pipes make me very happy! ild gladly give up all accessories to get this done. I wonder if it would fit as well. i bet headers or even stock small block manifolds would be tight.
